
Overview
The Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) is an annual, inclusive intergovernmental forum to support follow-up and review of progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the regional level. The 12th APFSD was organized from 25 to 28 February 2025 under the theme: “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for leaving no one behind in Asia and the Pacific” at the United Nations Conference Center (UNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand.
GIC Director, Dr. Manzul Kumar Hazarika was invited as one of the speakers during this annual forum for the side event titled “Scaling Science-Based Solutions for Sustainable Development: Regional Innovations in Technology and Data for Achieving the SDGs”. Dr. Hazarika presented on an open-source data and tool for understanding climate and disaster risks, focusing on the flood and tropical cyclone scenarios in Bangladesh in the next 20 to 100 years and their impacts in power sector infrastructures.
Event Agendas
This event was organized in alignment with the focus of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2025. The side event featured experts and practitioners who made presentations and discussed the following topics:
- Opportunities for stakeholders to scale up cross-border cooperation.
- Harnessing scientific evidence based approaches for achieving SDGs.
- Improving avenues for enhancing knowledge and skills to utilize multi-source data for effective responses utilizing cutting-edge and innovative technologies
