The Geoinformatics Center participated as trainers in the training at the Royal Irrigation Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Thailand, from 10 to 14 June 2024. The training was held to strengthen the capacity of irrigation engineers and water management officials by enhancing their knowledge and skills in applying remote sensing technologies for water management planning and forecasting.
GIC Research Specialist Dr. Kittiphon Boonma led and opened a training session in this training. Along with GIC Research Associate Thanaphol Boodchuang, he assisted with practical remote sensing, QGIS, Google Earth Engine, and basic Python for water management applications.
The training successfully enhanced the capabilities of the Royal Irrigation Department staff in operating and enhancing their knowledge of geoinformatics applications. During the five-day training, the participants could apply the geospatial tools to their own needs in water management applications.
Mr. Natthaphon Wuttichan, the Director of the Research and Development Office of the Royal Irrigation Department, closed the session and congratulated the participants. Thirty participants received a certificate of completion from the director for the success of the training participation.
