On 18th July 2024, GIC’s team inspected the existing debris sampling process at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River, as a part of an upcoming collaborative project, between GIC/AIT, JICA, and the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources of Thailand (DMCR). The inspection’s objective was to evaluate the potential integration of CCTV monitoring systems to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the debris sampling process.
GIC/AIT played a pivotal role in this inspection, providing valuable insights and technical expertise. Their involvement was crucial in identifying the technical requirements and challenges associated with implementing CCTV monitoring for environmental research and debris management.
This inspection highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and the integration of modern technology in monitoring marine debris. The insights gained from this evaluation will be instrumental in advancing our efforts to manage and mitigate debris pollution from land in Thailand.
