
Overview
The Sustainable Environment Research Institute, Chulalongkorn University organized a workshop titled “Zero-Waste School” for school administrators and lead teachers. The event took place at Mida Don Mueang Airport Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand on 24 June 2025 and welcomed participants from 13 schools located in Lak Si, Bang Khen, and nearby districts
This workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of schools in the target areas (Lak Si, Bang Khen, and nearby areas) to gain knowledge and understanding of the Zero-Waste School concept and the Eco-School concept enabling schools to implement effective and sustainable waste management practices. Creative and engaging activities were featured throughout the workshop, such as the educational board game, Waste War and interactive learning stations focused on waste separation and climate change. These activities were designed to be easily adapted by teachers for use in classrooms.
GIC’s Role
Dr. Kittiphon Boonma and Mr. Karun Mooksrisai from Geoinformatics Center (GIC) participated in this workshop. Dr. Boonma presented an overview of the PlasticFlow Mekong Project, highlighting the key milestones, achievements and project objectives among the workshop attendees.
The activity is part of the project “Developing a livable community along Khlong Lat Phrao and waste-free schools in Bang Khen and Lak Si districts” under the PlasticFlow Mekong Project funded by Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund.
