Overview
The workshop on “Interactive Workshop for Innovative Solutions in Monitoring, Evaluating and Managing Plastic Pollution” was organised by AIT and UNEP on 20th August 2024. The aim of the workshop was to educate youth regarding various monitoring of plastic waste in different ecosystems, circular economy for plastic waste and innovative plastic recycling and management opportunities.
The session was led by Dr. Sayako Ono from UNEP who briefly introduced the project followed by a presentation from Dr. Ekbordin, Associate Professor at EEM, AIT on monitoring of plastic waste in marine ecosystems. During this session, he highlighted various methods for monitoring plastic waste in shorelines, water surfaces and seafloor for macroplastic, mesoliters and microlitters. Next, Dr. Kittiphon Boonma from GIC, AIT explained about pLitter technology, technical specifications, applications in plastic monitoring in rivers, location of implementations.
