Overview
The Mekong Institute (MI) is implementing the project “Capacity Building on Regional Project Design, Implementation, Monitoring & Evaluation of MKCF Projects (PRIME Project)”. The PRIME Project aims to enhance the capacities of eligible partners under the MKCF program by strengthening regional cooperation and integration through the design and implementation of collaborative projects aligned with national priorities in the seven MKCF sectors.
As a part of this project, MI had organized Modular Training Program on “Regional Project Monitoring and Evaluation” from 9-13 June 2025 at the Mekong Institute, Khon Kaen, Thailand. The training aimed to strengthen the capacity of MKCF Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs) in regional project planning, results-based management, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), communication and reporting.
Mr. Koen Walter Toonen, MI consultant and Ms. Anusara Tanpitak,Communications and Knowledge Management Manager, MI served as the resource persons for the training. The training featured customized group coaching sessions and a participatory approach that actively engaged participants in the learning process. It also included group discussions, hands-on activities, and peer review sessions on activity outputs, which provided opportunities for shared learning and practical application of concepts. Beyond technical skills, the training fostered a stronger sense of regional collaboration, helping build networks that support ongoing learning and cooperation across the MKCF community.
GIC’s Role
Ms. Ushnish Tuladhar, Research Associate at GIC, participated in this week-long training representing PlasticFlow Mekong project (call 7) which is funded by the Mekong-Republic of Korea Cooperation Fund (MKCF) and managed by Mekong Institute (MI). During the training, she gained practical skills in various components of the M&E framework, including the Logical Framework, Results-Based Management (RBM), project risk management, indicator development, sustainability strategies, and more. Insights from peer reviews and expert feedback received throughout the program were incorporated to revise and refine a comprehensive M&E Framework for the PlasticFlow Mekong project.
