Sentinel Asia JAXA Mini Project 2015-16 Phase III – Sri Lanka


Geoinformatics Center (GIC) conducted a final workshop for disseminating results of the Sentinel Asia Mini Project on the “Application of Remote Sensing and GIS for landslide mapping and modeling in Sri Lanka”. The program was the final phase (Phase III) of the Mini Project 2015-2016 in Sri Lanka, sponsored by JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). The workshop was jointly organized with the Survey Department and the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) of Sri Lanka.

The workshop was held at the Survey Department, Colombo on 18th February 2016. Eighty-six participants from different agencies including Survey Department, NBRO, Disaster Management Center (DMC), University of Peradeniya, Central Environmental Authority (CEA), Land Use Policy Planning Department (LUPPD), Urban Development Authority (UDA), International Water Management Institute (IWMI), JICA Sri Lanka office, World Bank, University of Moratuwa, University of Sabaragamuwa, University of Jayawardenapura, Meterological Department, Coastal Conservation Department, Center for Research and Development, Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies, Irrigation Department, and Department of Coast Conservation and Coastal Resource Management joined the workshop.
