On October 16, 2024, five delegates including Prof. GQ Max Lu, President and Vice Chancellor, from the University of Surrey, UK, visited the Geoinformatics Center (GIC). Dr. Manzul K. Hazarika, the Director of GIC, warmly welcomed the group and delivered an engaging presentation about the center. The session highlighted GIC’s key milestones, focus areas, and ongoing projects.
Key projects discussed included the Sentinel Asia Program and its activations in Vietnam, Thailand, and India, along with the ADB’s InSAR project and a UNDP project in Tajikistan. Dr. Hazarika also showcased GIC’s technologies, such as pLitter and Pyaez, explaining their functionalities and applications.
The discussions further explored the use of satellite imagery for data analysis in water-related applications, potential collaborations for transport management, and the processing of multiple datasets.
