JAXA SA Mini Project 2013 Phase III – Bangladesh


Geoinformatics Center (GIC) conducted a workshop for disseminating results of Mini-Project on flood hazard and exposure mapping in a few selected locations along the Brahmaputra river. The program was the final phase (Phase 3) of the Mini-project 2013-2014 in Bangladesh sponsored by JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency). The workshop was jointly organized with the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB).

The workshop was held in Conference Room of BWDB, Motijhil C/A, Dhaka on 12 February 2014. 37 participants from different agencies join the workshop, including Survey of Bangladesh, Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Geological Survey of Bangladesh (GSB), Institute of Water Modelling (IWM), Department of Disaster Management (DDM), Bangladesh Meteorological Department, and Regional Integrated Multi-Hazard Early Warning System (RIMES) Dhaka office.

Prior to the workshop, two days field visit was conducted in Jamalpur district to validate the mini-project outcomes.
