JAXA SA Mini Project 2013 Phase III – Philippines
Geoinformatics Center (GIC) conducted a workshop for disseminating results of Mini-Project on hazard and exposure mapping on volcano (Case study: Taal Volcano, Batangas) and Flood (Case study: Olongapo city, Zambales). The program was the final phase (Phase 3) of the Mini-project 2013-2014 in Philippines sponsored by JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency).The workshop was jointly organized with the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
The workshop was held in PHIVOLCS Auditorium, Diliman, Quezon City on 6 February 2014. 30 participants from different agencies join the workshop, including National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS)/Project NOAH, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Manila Observatory (MO), National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR), and Office of Civil Defense (OCD).
Prior to the workshop, two days field visit was conducted in Taal volcano (municipalities of Talisay, Laurel, Agoncillo) and Olongapo city to validate the mini-project outcomes.
