Technical Assistance on Implementation of Geo-referenced Information Systems for Disaster Risk Management

The main objective of this project is to provide technical knowhow to implement Geo-referenced Information Systems for Disaster Risk Reduction (Geo-DRM) in some identified organizations in Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Geoinformatics Center (GIC) jointly implement this project with Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in partnership with the United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR), Asia Pacific Office, Bangkok.
In October 2013, one week capacity buitding training program was held at Geoinformatics Center, Asian Institute of Technology. About ten participants from Afghanistan and Nepal attended this training. Bangladesh participants could not attend this program due to some political unrest back in their country. Details / Photos
A followup training program was held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 11th to 14th February, 2014 targetting the Nepali participants to provide further knowledge on some advance topics. Participants from Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Planning Commission attended the training. Details / Photos
Second session of this training to provide further assistance on developing Geo-DRM poertals was conducted at Geoinformatics Center, Asian Institute of Technology from 24th to 28th March, 2014. About 12 participants from Afghanistan and Bangladesh attnded this training. Details / Photos
