Training on Flood Modeling and Risk Assessment

Geoinformatics Center in cooperation with DHI-India organized two-weeks training course on Flood Modeling and Risk Assessment from 17th to 28th March 2014. Six participants from Assam Water Resources Department took part in this training course.

The course was designed to provide exposure on the application and use of remote sensing and GIS technology with various flood-modeling tools and techniques for the better flood risk assessment. First week of the training was focused more on the application of remote sensing data and GIS for flood mapping, preparing element-at risk database, using various freely available data sources for the risk assessment. Similarly, second week of the training was focused on the latest tools and techniques on Flood Modeling by DHI. It includes Rainfall Runoff Modeling (NAM), Mike 11, Mike 21 and Mike Flood for integrated flood modeling.
